Automatic route and Approval route — full execution detail

For Swiss venture capital funds and Indian government agencies

Two statutory routes. One rail. Both cleared in under nine minutes.

Indian law offers a company two ways to send investment capital abroad. The Automatic route needs no prior consent; the Approval route requires the Reserve Bank to say yes first. Below, each route is executed step by step — showing every manual input a human must supply, every act each of the six regulators performs, and the exact time each step consumes. Every line can be heard aloud in 38+ languages.

Manual inputs — what a human must still supply

The automatic route intake

The rail never invents a fact. These are the only fields a person types; everything else is derived, cited and proved by the system.

Identity and mandate capture

On the automated rail

PAN, CIN and LEI resolved from the registry; the board resolution is parsed and the authorised signatory matched automatically.

In manual practice today

Treasury types the entity name and uploads the signed board resolution; the AD bank officer eyeballs the signatory list.

Role permissions — who may set which status

Read-only on this desk

  • Corporate treasury

The company filing the remittance. It gathers papers and hands them in.

  • Regulator officer

The authority reading the file. It is the only desk that can pass a document.

  • Investor / observer

A diligence observer. Sees everything, and by default changes nothing.

    View only
  • Platform administrator

The platform operator. Can set any status and decide what the other desks may do.

Regulator officers may act only on documents their own authority reviews.

In plain words

Each desk gets its own set of buttons on Identity and mandate capture. A company can say a paper is ready and handed in, but only the regulator that reads it can mark it passed, an investor can look without touching, and the administrator can widen or narrow any of it — step by step. Every permitted change is still signed and written into the audit trail.

Import a progress file — JSON or CSV

In plain words: if your team already tracks these documents in a spreadsheet, upload it here. Every matching row sets the status straight away, the regulator gap bars redraw, and each change is written into the audit trail below with who did it and when. CSV needs stepId, document, status columns; JSON accepts an array of the same fields or a key/status map.

Evidence audit trail — 0 recorded changes

  • No status changes recorded yet. Every time someone marks a document prepared, submitted or validated — by hand or through an import — the change is stamped here with the signer and the time.

What each regulator actually does

Six authorities. Two different jobs.

On the Automatic route the regulators verify and record. On the Approval route one of them — the Reserve Bank — adjudicates, and the others advise it. Read the last two columns to see exactly which part of that work is still done by a human hand.

RBI

Reserve Bank of India — Overseas Investment Division

Financial commitment, Rule 7 ceiling, UIN allotment

Receives the filing for record, verifies the ceiling proof and allots the UIN. It does not need to consent.

Adjudicates. An officer reads the justification, tests the exposure against policy and records a reasoned order allowing or refusing the commitment.

Human · Officer reads the dossier, may raise written queries, signs the order.

Machine · Ceiling proof verified by circuit; exposure analytics and precedent orders assembled for the officer.

All six read one signed dossier at the same instant. Nothing is re-keyed, nothing is posted onward, and every clearance is a hash-chained receipt a supervisor can verify later.
